The Haggard Law Firm’s Douglas McCarron has obtained a $675,000 settlement in a trucking crash case in Miami-Dade County involving a tractor-trailer and an automobile.
On October 15th, 2020, The Haggard Law Firm’s client, Adrian Huet, exited State Road 826 onto the NW 25th Street ramp and came to a stop at the red light. Mr. Huet was positioned in the inner left turn lane. After the left turn signal turned green, Mr. Huet proceeded into the intersection to go west on NW 25th Street. As Mr. Huet traversed the intersection, JTL Transport driver Jose Abalo-Borrell, who was travelling east on NW 25 Street, ran the red light and caused a violent collision.
Adrian Huet suffered an immediate loss of consciousness after the impact. He recalls waking up in his vehicle and speaking to a police officer. Fire Rescue transported Adrian to Kendall Regional Medical Center. Adrien suffered numerous injuries, including acute bilateral frontal subdural hematomas, bilateral subarachnoid hemorrhages, pelvic ring fractures, a left cervical fracture, and a rib fracture. Adrian complained of headaches and excruciating pain in his hip and knees.
The accident caused significant injuries to two other individuals that were traveling in a car next to Mr. Huet. JTL Transport and Jose Abalo-Borrell were insured with a combined single limit policy of $1 million. At the time of settlement, there was only $980,000 remaining on the policy. The settlement for Mr. Huet was approximately 70 percent of the remaining policy.
