Adam Finkel

Partner

Adam Finkel is a trial attorney with The Haggard Law Firm with extensive experience working with persons catastrophically injured due to corporate negligence, as well as families who have lost loved ones.

Before joining The Haggard Law Firm, Finkel was an associate attorney at Mase, Mebane & Briggs practicing in the areas of admiralty and maritime, where he handled matters involving sexual assaults, death, and injuries onboard cruise ships. Having represented many of the major cruise line companies in personal injury and wrongful death matters, Finkel gained an in-depth look into how these corporations defend themselves in Court. Despite experiencing much success for his clients, Finkel quickly realized representing the corporate cruise lines was not for him. Wanting his skill and efforts to be a powerful tool for victims wronged by the cruise companies, Finkel joined The Haggard Law Firm. Now with The Haggard Law Firm, Finkel is on the right side of justice and is able to use all the knowledge he obtained while representing the cruise lines, in order to help victims obtain justice. He is published in the field of maritime law and is a member of the International Cruise Victims Association.

Before entering private practice, Finkel spent six years with the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office.  Finkel was a member of the Gang Unit and was asked by the State Attorney to serve in the county’s specialized Gun Violence Unit, as the lead prosecuting attorney. To investigate crime and prepare for trial, Finkel worked closely with local law enforcement, as well as Federal agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He obtained many verdicts against some of the county’s most heinous gang members. This experience drove him to work in the community to help troubled youths better their future and enroll in college. In this effort to positively impact the community, Finkel’s passion for representing victims was solidified, and why he continues to work tirelessly for victims of crime.

Finkel recently represented a young father of three, who was shot and catastrophically injured while in the valet area of Miami Beach’s famed “Prime 112” restaurant. Establishing that the restaurant could, and should have protected his client, Finkel secured a $12 Million settlement. Months later, Finkel helped obtain a $10 Million settlement for two families in Pensacola, Florida, after their sons were shot and killed in two Pensacola low-income housing complexes managed by the same company.

Named in 2023 as one of Best Lawyers in America’s ‘Ones to Watch,’ Finkel works tirelessly to support those catastrophically injured and needing of help. Finkel, a member of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, has successfully helped families impacted by childhood drownings, including obtaining an $11.95 Million settlement for a family that lost their son in a residential community pool drowning incident, obtained a $9.9 Million settlement in 2023 for a family that lost their daughter with special needs to drowning in their neighbor’s pool, and a $4.25 Million settlement for a family who lost their son in a drowning incident in Dakota County, Minnesota in 2022.

A father to two young boys, Harry and Dean, Finkel takes pride in helping families through their toughest moments. One of his most notable cases involved a 9-year-old boy who fell from the 7th-story window of an apartment building in North Miami. Whereas other attorneys believed help could not be provided, Finkel worked with young Matthew’s parents to obtain an $11 Million settlement and enabled his family to afford transformative rehabilitative treatment.

While at The Haggard Law Firm, Finkel also assisted many persons injured in automobile and trucking accidents, including securing an $8.5 Million settlement for a father of two struck by a commercial tractor-trailer, and a $5.95 Million settlement for the family of young Anthony Rojo, who was struck and killed by a vehicle operated by the general manager of an automobile dealership.

A Dean’s List student from Syracuse University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations and a minor in Political Science, Finkel then earned his juris doctorate from Brooklyn Law School with an academic achievement scholarship. During law school, he served as a law clerk for the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

A New York native, Finkel is a member of the Florida and New York Bars, and admitted to practice in all Florida State courts, New York State courts, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He presently serves as the Secretary for the Miami Dade Bar.
